Job Overview:
As a Solar Permit Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the solar permit process from start to finish. This includes preparing permit packages, coordinating with local government bodies, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurate and submitted on time. You will play a critical role in the smooth execution of solar installation projects by ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Permit Preparation: Prepare and review solar permit packages, ensuring all necessary documents are included and meet local jurisdiction requirements.
- Submission and Tracking: Submit permit packages to appropriate permitting offices and track their status, ensuring a timely approval process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with changes in permitting procedures and requirements at the municipal, state, and federal levels.
- Coordination: Work closely with design teams and project managers to gather necessary project specifics for accurate permit submittals.
- Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or questions from permitting authorities in a timely manner.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of all permit transactions, including submissions, approvals, and revisions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and governmental bodies to keep all parties informed of permit status and any needed actions.
- Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to the permitting process to increase efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in permitting, regulatory affairs, or a related field. Experience in the solar industry strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office and permit software.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of construction, electrical, and building codes as they relate to solar installations.
- Familiarity with the solar permitting process and the various entities involved.
- Certifications: Certification in permit processing or similar credentials is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
